Before you buy this book please do yourself a favor and scan through the 1 and 2 star ratings and you will get a true picture of what this book is about. I have read many books on investing and every book that I have read so far, had something to offer as far as useful information. This book offers absolutely nothing. For 400 pages it tells you how great the trend following system is and it gives you performance data (annual returns) of the professionals that use this system. That's it. There is nothing mentioned about the "system" these professionals use. If you look on the cover of the book, it says " best of all, he shows you exactly how to apply the same strategies to your own portfolio" This is completely misleading. Of course nobody expects these professional to "give the farm away" but if you are going to write a book about a system of trading you would expect "some" information from the book. This book is a complete waste of time and money. I am not sure where all the 5 star reviews came from ?!

This book had so many pages of useless information. 50 pages of charts showing trend followers vs the s&p500 during market crashes etc.. the point could have been made in 1-2 pages. We get it.. trend followers did better than buy and hold investors. There's also 100 pages of filler about famous trend followers and the returns of their funds. This is also something that could have been covered in 1-2 pages. We get it.. trend followers make great returns. I don't need 10000 examples of this to drive the point home. I got to page 180 and wanted to set fire to this book. I'm just glad I didn't have to pay full price for it or I'd be requesting for a refund. I guess I can use it as a paper weight now or take it camping to start a fire.

On one hand I agree with the other reviews that say the "How to" is missing from this book, on the other hand, I did gain perspective.A lot of this book is about the psychology, maybe too much but I can identify with the emotional aspects of trading. And there are so many quotes from successful traders, it starts getting redundant (some quotes are in there more than once) and for that matter the entire book is a bit redundant, but keep reading because there is some good information in here. Your not going to learn everything from the ground up with this book, it is probably better suited for an experienced trader or a supplement to other reading. I may have missed it but I don't think he ever, specifically explained what a trend is or how to identify one in the context of trading. I also used investopedia quite a bit while reading because investment terms are not always explained. Still I'm glad I read it (Well most of it anyway) and am now looking for something that includes the "How to".Update: just started "Trend trading for a living", claims to include the how to and usable system to get you started.

Lousy. Somehow Michael Covel has amassed a following of people who see his books as proof that they can get rich if they just follow a bunch of catchphrases. That's literally all this book, is is a collection of catchphrases and meaningless quotes. There is one example of a historical backtest of a trading system, but if you look it it, you can see that the backtest is manipulated to show positive results. The backtest is not run during a period where it would have shown huge losses. You want a book on trend following, read "Following the Trend" by Andreas Clenow. Regardless, the strategy this book talks about is designed mostly for futures markets. It doesn't work for stocks, or most ETFs. Guess what? To trade futures markets you need close to $1million in capital to make a viable trading strategy. Anyways, most of the people who read this book and praise it are chasing fool's gold. I pity them.

I made the mistake of not reading the description clearly as I thought it would give ways or a system for investing or trading on that trend. But I can figure that out on my own.It is good in that it will show you, with numerous charts and stories, that markets do in fact trend. If you can jump onto one of these trends early on, and ride it till the end, you can make some good coin. Not a bad book, just not exactly what I was expecting.

I am of mixed minds about this book.On the one hand- and most importantly- it's a very interesting and well-written description of a hunter's hunting lifestyle.On the other- well I'll grant that the author says he's learned through the years, but some of the "hunting" and trapping he did as a kid was really cruel, and done only for money not for meat to eat.Still- I think it's important that those of us who did NOT grow up in the hunting subculture understand those that did- and also the reverse. (The reverse is mostly not covered in this book.)I think it was brave of Rinella to be so forthcoming about his various hunting stories. Personally, I am contemplating whether or not I would ever be interested in hunting, and this book is very informative- though not decisive- in that contemplation.I do admire his general respect for the animals, and his dedication to making their deaths not go to waste (apart from the muskrats he killed as a teen for their fur).It's a good book and I'm glad I read it.It is not a book for everyone. There's a lot of gory details here. If you are a carnivore and want to face up to what meat-eating really means- I'd recommend it. If you are a vegan- you probably would rather skip it due to irrelevance.

I had first herd Steven Rinella on the joe rogan experience podcast, it was very cool listening to his point of view about hunting. In fact his point of view I found to be quite educating to my own perspective of how I thought hunting was. I've definitely appreciated his show after listening to not only joe rogan's but his own podcast "meateater"(definitely check it out if you haven't allready). What I enjoy most about this book is the way he blends his own tales about his childhood with those of the mountain men, native Americans, or frontiers men of past decades. Also the wealth of information he has from years of hunting certainly make this one of the most interesting books I've ever read. It's definitely encouraged me to take up a rather long standing tradition of being involved with the conservation effort as well as hunting to live.

This book was my first exposure to Rinella. I must have missed out on the "The Wild Within" tv show, but now with his "Meateater" shows (which I truly wish were on Amazon Prime) and his "Meateater" podcast, not to mention the other books that he's written, I'm getting a lot of useful advice and smart, well-thought-out insights on a lot of different topics.This particular book consists of a lot of stories from Steve's life and really gives the reader an accurate portrayal of what makes Steve Steve. Buy this Rinella book but don't make the mistake of it being your last one by him (and check out his podcast too!).

This book really is everything this and others reviews say it is. What a joy to read! I've recently gotten interested in hunting and have been "on the hunt" (hah!) for books that share hunting wisdom and knowledge. This book outlines one man's life-long story of why he hunts, how he hunts, where he hunts, and how awesome (or in some cases bad) the eatin' is. Rinella does a fantastic job of sharing entertaining stories about his experiences, good and bad, while imparting much appreciated knowledge, wisdom and secrets about his methods. I loved how honest and down to earth Rinella was. It felt like sitting down, talking about life stuff, with an old friend. Other books I've read on the subject are oftentimes fluff pieces, with stories of hunting wildabeast and elephants in Africa, that read like a "fishing story" if ya know what I mean. Not this book. It was just plain honest and you could tell this guy just wants to share his passion for hunting with the whole world and provide information that will help us to succeed too. Thank you, Mr. Rinella, for this wonderful book!

I bought this book to read and as a gift. A great read and as a hunter who been hunting for over 40 years. Steven is the hunter, story teller and show “Meat Eater” that we’ve been waiting for. He explains the importance of hunting in our country. He doesn’t get lost in trophy hunting and scoring. He hunting to eat and he hunts where most of us can hunt. This is a book I challenge you to give to people who are against hunting and watch them open their minds to Steven. Thank-you

A fantastic read! It's written very well and down-to-earth. For anyone who is curious about hunting and has never been this is a great introduction. The authors passion for not only the act of hunting, but the animals themselves, the environments they live in and ultimately the food they provide carries you through the book, curious to know what he'll have to tell you about next.

As woman in the world of hunting and a passionate cook, Steve brings both interests together in an entertaining, educational ,insightful, well-written book. I enjoyed the comparison he draws of his experiences with things many of his readers might be more familiar with and are quite amusing. The Tasting Notes were especially interesting to my culinary side. His recollections of his childhood adventures with his brothers rival the modern-day classic movie "Wild America". This I my second book by Steve, my first having been The Scavengers Guide to Haute Cuisine. It whet my appetite for more from this great ambassador of ethical hunting, and I'll be recommending his books in my local game-cooking classes.

As a hunter I greatly enjoy the MeatEater television show. Steven's book includes more of what I like, his thoughtful, intellectual style of communicating. This book is mainly autobiographical. I paused to re-read many of the passages for their almost poetic imagery. Overall the subject matter may be a bit down and dirty for non-hunters but should elicit nods of recognition from readers with similar experiences. The last chapter should have been the first IMO, for the mood it set.

The best sports book ever! I loved every page.

If you have followed this rivalry to any degree, especially from ‘79-89, this will bring back many memories.

Great read. It really goes into the history of each franchise, although I feel that the book details the 70/80's teams more then the 90's/2000's teams. Granted, the rivalry was at its peak in the 70/80's.

Very impressed by Zachary's writing.

Kamisama ga Uso wo Tsuku, or The Gods Lie, is a beautiful coming-of-age and romance short series that takes place during the summer vacation of two young students who learn more about their families, each other, and the harsh realities of modern life. The best part of this story is the characters, who you will love and empathize with throughout the heartwarming moments. The pacing is perfect and the art is is crisp and great to read through.And props to Vertical, this translation is well done and the print is perfect, which has been my experience with their other recent releases as well.~ "Because it's the best they can do"

It's a short read, so anyone who buys manga longer than this might view it as a little rushed at times. I didn't really get hooked at first, the typical plot lines were there so I found it a bit cliche. Annnnnnnnd then the main plot twist happens, and needless to say I enjoyed it.I wouldn't pay full price for this again though, but if you can get it for under $10, that's more than worth it accounting McDonalds would pay you about the same amount for your time.

This was cute about some kids having a little life together for a short period of time. But it was also very sad, I literally cried at a certain part that I won’t mention cause I’m not into spoilers haha

My favorite one shot manga volume of all time. Honestly motivated me to get back into reading manga.

It didn't take me long to read, but it was extremely enjoyable the entire time. It was a bit different from anything I've read before, I wish there were more! The art is great as well. I liked it so much I plan on picking up other works by Ozaki.

So glad I got it! I only started reading manga a couple months ago and I've been looking for a new read. I'm really busy these days so I wanted something short with a good story. A friend recommended The Gods Lie and I just HAD to get it. It arrived earlier than expected (to my delight). The art style is beautiful, the print is great and the story is so adorable (and a little sad). I absolutely loved it!
