About the Author

Geshe Tashi Tsering was born in Tibet in 1958 and received his Geshe Lharampa degree (similar to a doctorate in divinity) from Sera Monastery in India in 1987. Since 1994, he has been the guiding teacher of the Jamyang Buddhist Centre in London, while also teaching at other Buddhist centers worldwide.Gordon McDougall was director of Cham Tse Ling, the FPMT's Hong Kong center, for two years in the 1980s and worked for Jamyang Buddhist Centre in London from 2000 to 2007. He helped develop the Foundation of Buddhist Thought study program and administered it for seven years. Since 2008 he has been editing Lama Zopa Rinpoche's lamrim teachings for Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive's FPMT Lineage series.Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche is the Spiritual Director of the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT), a worldwide network of Buddhist centers, monasteries, and affiliated projects, including Wisdom Publications. Rinpoche was born in 1946 in the village of Thami in the Solo Khumbu region of Nepal near Mount Everest. His books include Transforming Problems into Happiness, How to Be Happy, and Ultimate Healing. He lives in Aptos, California.

I am on volume 2 in the series. It is very well written. Easy to understand. The author spent 7 years just learning how the western mind thinks. I highly recommend the whole series.

Frank Gehry represents a paradox in architecture. Embraced by established financial and cultural institutions, his work is also viewed as avant-garde. His highly sculptural buildings develop from lively, fluid sketches and study models that often include crumpled paper. The primary didactic materials from the exhibition form the text, supplemented by five important essays: Mildred Friedman writes on the scope of Gehry's career, Beatriz Colomina offers an exhaustive analysis of his Santa Monica house, Cohen examines his urban work, J. Fiona Ragheb provides a comparison of Wright's and Gehry's approaches to form, and William J. Mitchell explains Gehry's dependence on computer-assisted design and modeling. Although the color illustrations are lavish, the photographs of models are poorly resolved, and there are virtually no floor plans. Bought it as a gift, and am buying one for myself (liked it so much); beautiful pictures, terrific biography! Buy it!

I just want to begin this review by saying that this book is a need for any architect's library. The book Frank Gehry, Architect, provides a wealth of knowledge about the architect as well as the structures that he has created over time. Most pages in this book (and there are many) contain full color pictures, sketches, or descriptions about the structure and the architect. This book spans from Gehry's earliest projects to project underdevelopment. Projects range from structures to furniture, and even to art (sculpture like stuff). An aspect that I like most about this book is seeing Gehry develop his ideas and hone his craft. I should also add that this book also contains several models that were created for structures. I think this is essential because it allows beginning architects a chance to see effective model building techniques as well as different ways to convey a feeling which is essential for effective communication with a client. Overall, I would highly recommend this book for all architects and students.

Well done survey of Gehry's work by Gehry himself, as such, the text is highly informative and the images show his work in its best light. Gehry is without question one of the most influential architects working today, and though I would not necessarily call me a worshiper of his work, im more of a richard meier, santiago calatrava kinda guy, I do respect his awesome talent and his contributions to the field of architecture. If you have any interest at all in Gehry or architecture in general, then I highly recommend you added this to you library.

A wonderful exploration into the thought and work process of creative artist and his team. Frank Gehry is to architecture what Dale Chihuly is to glass.

I personally like them. They are very easy to understand---although the baby refuses to read them. But that is not the book's fault, the baby is very stubborn and also easily distracted. She does seem to like the flavor of the cardboard.

For most (myself included) the topics these books cover are very hard to simplify. I must say the author does a good job of doing that. However, my love for science probably isn't enough to keep my child interested in these topics read after read. These books lack the engaging images I was hoping they had to supplement my enthusiasm. Not sure if they will stand the test of time.Great idea but I think it misses the mark.

We're living in this crazy world where some people don't believe in vaccinations, climate change, or evolution... for those that do, these books are a great basis to get your kids started early. Sure, there are some slight cognitive leaps ("now the ball is quantized!"), but generally, I have very few complaints about these books. They totally beat a lot of the mindless garbage, or worse, anti-science propaganda that's out there.

The newtonian physics book came with the first 2 pages sideways and the binding was loose so we had to glue it. The other 3 books were in good shape. I like the books and my baby enjoys looking at the pictures. We started reading these to him since he was 10 days old.

These books are so great! They are so simple, even I am learning something. I love them! Great gift for anyone with kids, or for your own kids to get them interested in science.

I like it. My kids, not as much. These books are almost perfect. My five year old enjoys these little bursts of science, but I have to amend the title to "Quantum Physics for Family." Well illustrated complex topics, doesn't interest actual babies. My 20 month old won't have these.

I got this set for my niece for her 1st birthday. Her mother & maternal grandmother are scientists & they love the books! Although my niece isn’t reading yet, she’s entertained by them during diaper changes lol. My nephews are 5 & 8 y.o. so they have read them & it has started convos/Q&As with their mom about science & prompted them to want to learn more. It benefits the whole family!

My kids LOVE all these books and now we’ve purchased them for friends who are expecting.

I may have a weak spot when it comes to Little Golden Books because I had so many growing up when I was first learning to read. I still have many of mine now that my daughters are able to enjoy. My youngest daughter, 5, went to see this movie with my fiance when it first came out and it was her first theater experience. When I saw they had a Golden Book for it, I knew it would be the perfect Christmas present from Daddy to daughter! When I first received it, I went to open it to read it and you could tell it had never been opened. I decided against reading it myself because I remember the fun of "cracking" a book for the first time and wanted to save that for my daughter! :) I definitely recommend buying this book for your little ones or to just add to your growing collection!

This is the Little Golden Book version of the recent Disney Pixar movie, The Good Dinosaur. It is the really fun and cute adventure story of the dinosaur Arlo, who is trying to earn his place in the world, and the human child that Arlo names Spot. The book is wonderfully illustrated and is the perfect length for reading to a toddler or pre-schooler or even an older child. My 3.5 year old grandson absolutely loved the story. The book itself is very high quality and should hold up for a long time, as Little Golden Books do when they are cared for. I'm sure like me you have some from as many as fifty years ago.

Whats not to love about these books. I bought this for my 2 year old daughter and can't wait to read these to her. I remember these books when I was little. I wish I still had these books from when i was a little girl so I could show my little girl look mommy had the same books when I was your age.Great book for a 2 year old as they can lose interest pretty quickly.

I'm so glad we preordered this Little Golden Book . It arrived this week and is absolutely adorable. The illustrations are charming, the story is fantastic and we are SO excited for The Good Dinosaur to come out next week! I love having a Little Golden Book in our collection for each of our favorite stories, and this was a wonderful way to continue the tradition. Perfect gift for any kids in your life!

I have not seen The Good Dinosaur movie, but I guarantee that it has a better story line than this book. The book seems like it missed some important bits of information to make the story flow. It is overly simplified, and my son doesn't show any interest in it.

My 2 year old doesn't usually sit well for long books (By "long" I mean anything more then a simple board book), but this one holds his interest. He likes the pictures and seems interested in the story - even after the 5th time we have read it.

This is the cutest book ever. It arrived in 2 days and in excellent condition. I also purchased the Good Dinosaur coloring book w/stickers. I know my 3yr old granddaughter is going to look this!!!

This movie made me cry more times than I can count. What a rollercoaster of emotions. It goes from extremely sad, to exciting drama/adventure, to happy, back to sad, and back to happy. It kept me and my son engaged the whole time. We saw it in the theaters, but loved it so much, so we bought it.
