This got me started in running which is great and I'll always be grateful (from couch to a half marathon!) but I guess he's one of those freaky flexible people that doesn't need to stretch and doesn't think it's great for anyone (I married one of those people, but I'm the opposite). So I didn't stretch and ended up in (very expensive) physical therapy due to pain from lack of flexibility. If I had any friends that wanted to start running, I think I would steer them towards Runner's World Run Less, Run Faster: Become a Faster, Stronger Runner with the Revolutionary 3-Run-a-Week Training Program instead. I also really liked Daniels' Running Formula-3rd Edition. It's not a light read, but running at the paces he recommends based on my race times did huge amounts for my overall fitness (although I never got faster on his plan).

As someone who is preparing for their first half-marathon, I have never used the Galloway method, although there are several people on the training team who do use it. I wanted to get the book first just to determine the best way to handle my once-weekly long runs over 10 miles. Based on his advice, I was able to get through the first 10-mile run feeling better than the prior week of 8 miles without hitting the wall like I did the week before. That was without even doing any walking. With that said, once I finish this event, I want to try his method in future to see if it helps me feel better, decrease my overall time, and get through the training cycle for another half marathon. The book is well written, easy to understand, and hopefully will help me with that goal. I would recommend this book as it has works for thousands of folks. Have an open mind and see what happens.

I really enjoy this book with the plans and suggestions. Jeff Galloway makes training seem 0% stressful and all about enjoyment. I highly recommend his methods. My 5 star rating is for the methods.The book itself is a bit...unedited. If I had to rate the writing of the book then it would be around 2 stars. It bounces around from point to point, hitting on topics incompletely without telling the reader about the full chapter about the topic later. Also, there are several typographical and conversion errors. A few times the text refers to 'something' later in the chapter (more text, a graph, sections) that never happen....the chapter just ends. Very strange.I wish it had a full marathon training plan too.But, whatever. Its a good plan and I bought his full marathon book as well (arriving today!). I would rather have a book full of good, sound, enjoyable ideas than a perfectly edited book full of technical-intimidating information.

In my opinion, the best book I have read in this sport, but it can be improved by inclusion of:1. marathon programs.2. The magic mile trial.I like the scheme used for shelter publications to present the information in this book. If Mr. Galloway include in this book the two points indicated above in other edition, he doesn't need to publish more about the topic. Period. Higly recommended reading. Combine this book with "Marathon you can do it!" and you'll have all the information about theory of run-walk-run method.

At least in this book, he practices what he preaches: an oversized ego is an obstacle and running is done for the joy it brings.After reading sections of this book, I did some late-night running at the campus track and I could see where a lot of runners were going wrong. They were trying so hard to run that after a few minutes they were exhausted.Galloway's book is more well suited to people who want to take the long and slow road, built on slow and long runs, to greater speed and eventual marathon competition.It might also be a bizarre, yet inspired, gift to your favorite couch potato (Just make sure he or she's not the type to get pissed at such a suggestive gift).

Its a great book which has been brilliantly reproduced with wonderful illustration. Go get a copy to experience it!

I got through this in less than an hour. If it was a book on the same topic it would have taken considerably longer.Thankfully, I do know something on this topic. It makes it easier to spot the mistakes and lies by omission. For instance, Che's concern over the executions he presided over following the fall of Havana. The author portrays Che as being concerned that revolutionary justice not get out of hand. Laughable! Hundreds died in front of firing squads commanded by Che. "Revolutionary justice" was handed out rather haphazardly to anyone associated with the Batista regime, presided over by a man who supposedly took the hippocratic oath.On the other hand, it did inadvertantly portray Che's role as a troublemaker, more than a "revolutionary." By Lenin, he was intent on starting revolutions in Africa and South America whether the people living there wanted them or not! It is no surprise to me that he ended up getting all of his people killed and he died alone. Not to mention accidentally shooting himself when the Bay of Pigs invasion started!So, the story of a failed doctor, a failed soldier and a failed father. Too bad such great artwork had to be wasted on such a loser.

Good for Middle School students or aren't into reading or history (might get them started into and interested).Could diffidently of had more about Tania/Tamara Bunke (b.Argentina. e. E.Germany, Russia. Cuba revolution. d. Bolivia)Graphics: To much influence from 50's/60's pop movies. Have to admit Castro did look like Jack Palance. Che, idon't know Rock Hudson, James Dean...Clark Kent? Lot of Harry Potter characters.Maybe I'm harsh.

I ordered this book for my second Kindle reader. It is out of print or at least hard to get and expensive when you can find it. For kindle it works well and has a lot of good information.

I'm returning this book. Why did I give it 5 stars then? Because I already know electronics and this book is written for somebody with little or no knowledge of electronics, so since I already know electronics, it's the wrong book for me. But before returning it I looked through it and it looks like a really great book for somebody that isn't an expert in electronics but would like to read a book and know how to build,repair, or even just understand their own amp. If you want to learn about your amp, I highly recommend this book. If you already know electronics then this is the wrong book for you.

With the resurgence of interest in vacuum tube audio amplifiers among audio purists, Vacuum Tube Amplfier Basics is right on target. Although it reviews basic electronics theory and terms before launching into describing practical circuits that the reader can build, readers with no prior electronics knowledge need not be intimidated. The theory is presented in a simplified and logical way that will be useful for newbies through experienced electronics techs. For readers who wish to do so, the book gives clear intsructions for building high quality tube circuits that can be combined to yield a fully functional vacuum tube stereo system that you can brag about having built yourself. What an adventure! It also suggests compatible speakers and explains the fabled "tube sound". A previous reviewer mentioned that the diagrams were hard to read on the Kindle version. This is easily remedied by viewing the book on Kindle's free PC ap where you can have the diagrams a big as you like.

Shows amplifier general arrangements, how to position tag strips and how to physically connect components instead of leaving it to the imagination of a beginner who has no idea where to start.This is the perfect beginner's book that provides a firm foundation for more comprehensive books like those by Morgan Jones Highly recommended!

Well written and concise, hobbyist DIY amp builders will learn something here. Supplement with other online video resources to nail down critical concepts and build your confidence to build a great tube amp - great stepping stone for beginner to intermediate level electronics enthusiasts with some amp building experience. Two thumbs up! Basics? Well, perhaps, but plenty of good material here to reinforce what you think you may already know. You know who you are!

This is an excellent book on building a tube amp. Many books of this type claim to start you with the very basics of doing so but then do not. This one really does so. I cant over recommend this book for one who wants to build a tube amp but has little or no experience doing so. Buy this one before you buy others.

It's been many years since I was an electronics technician in the Coast Guard, but if I'm remembering right, the concepts of how a vacuum tube works were not made nearly as clear as this book makes them. I'm not very far into the book, but so far I find it very informative and enjoyable.

This economical book provides a good foundation to get one started in DIY tube amplifiers. One thing I particularly liked about the book were the detailed construction tips, e.g. the proper placement of lock washers on chassis mounted components, grounding techniques, etc. These types of things are often glossed over or not well covered in other sources.

I’m very impressed with this one, as it is well presented and well thought-through; doesn’t needlessly bog you down with a wall of statistics or text; and is a remarkably easy read for an advanced text.OVERVIEWThe heart of the book is PokerSnowie, an AI-based NLHE software program that has learned and developed an effectively GTO pre-flop strategy given certain fixed conditions (fixed stack sizes and limited bet size options). Hunter’s decision to present PokerSnowie’s strategy in the tables and then add adjustments is a good one.Part III: Post-Flop Play (133 pgs.)Using hand histories, Hunter covers a fairly complete range of post-flop concepts (value betting, check-raising, check-calling), betting sequences and situations (triple barreling, calling check-raises with top pair), as well as playing in 3-, 4-, and 5-bet pots.While he doesn’t say so explicitly, Hunter does an excellent job of presenting the flop-turn-river as a sequence and an extension of the ranges established pre-flop. That might seem obvious but it’s not – probably 95% of poker authors examine the flop, and then the turn, and then the river.NITPICKINGIt’s not a beginner book for sure, and as written is not really an intermediate-level text either – while Hunter gives a rundown on newer poker boom-era concepts like combinatorics and SPR, he kind of takes it for granted that the reader already knows what GTO is, and what a polarized hand range is. Certainly some explanation on GTO especially is warranted here given that the book is centered around it, and would make the book more accessible to a broader, more intermediate-level audience.Other items:1. Suits in tables. To be fair, 99% of the people reading this book will know that the hands across the table are suited, while the hands going down are unsuited. But the table is not labeled as such; I recommended the book to a friend who is a non-idiot recreational player who plays $2/$5 and $5/$10 but has never used poker software or read a lot of poker books, and I just knew there was a decent chance that the tables would confuse him without explanation. It’s a simple fix, and no real reason not to label the tables.2. Limped and multi-way pots. The book is hyper-focused on isolation strategies, such that there is basically zero discussion on limped or multi-way pots. Granted, such hands are relatively straightforward, but are also fairly common particularly in smaller-stakes games.3. Isolation. Hunter also mentions offhand that the strategy for PLO is to isolate limpers with any playable hand, and to do the same in PLO8 with any A-2-x-x. That’s one way to play those games.OVERALL TAKEOverall, I’m pretty satisfied with my purchase and highly recommend this book to experienced non-idiot poker players, generally speaking. When you’re reading a poker strategy book, you want to be able to identify with the author’s lines of reasoning, and for me this book does that job.Advanced Concepts in No-Limit Hold’em is well thought-through. There’s nothing random here, and there’s a concrete explanation for everything. Hunter also uses hand histories to effectively demonstrate post-flop ideas – and if you know me, you know I like that. And where the book relies heavily on a program with inherent limitations to examine pre-flop play, Hunter consistently asks the right questions to adjust and apply his recommendations to real-world conditions. A++.

Simply the best NLHold'em book available for today's games. This is one of only two books that I've fond that were written using AI software. The other is Matt Janda's "No limit Hold'em for Advanced Players". They both came out around the same time (Summer 2017), but only Hunter is a pro-player. Matt became a doctor, but loves poker and is quite the poker genius, but prefers to play part time for enjoyment only. Both books require repeated study in order to fully digest the vast amount of information and concepts. I would love to see another book from either one of these authors, but it probably won't happen until the software reveals more secrets of the game.

I have played poker as a hobby for almost a decade. I was fortunate enough to get access to most of the content of Hunter's book through hiring him as a poker coach once I started taking the game more seriously. All I can say is, if you think you know how to play NLH, you are probably only peering over the brink of the opening of the rabbit hole. You will learn from Hunter "How to Learn" and "What to Learn". I have read practically every poker book that you might consider good, and I would call this one the best!

What a fantastic book! Allows a person in the biological sciences to do what has traditionally been done by engineers. Brings mathematical modeling to the biological sciences masses without the need of the higher math - the software does all that for you. Allows modeling to be done much like metabolic pathways are diagrammed. I first found this book 12 years ago and it set my schooling and career in a totally new direction. It introduced me to two things: quantitative biology through modeling and the STELLA modeling software. Using the STELLA software and this book as an introductory primer for undergraduate students coming into my research lab I have been able to show students that it is not enough to understand the metabolic pathways in order to understand the physiology and biology of a dynamic system, you must also understand quantitatively the control mechanisms as well. This book with its accompanying software has been the perfect vehicle for students to self-explore and learn this - and then branch out and develop their own physiologically-based models. When students can create a physiologically-based description of a dynamic system in the body they have mastered it on a level not currently taught anywhere in any curriculum in this country.

The math questions show how to solve the problem to get the correct answer. This book is good for the price but I would not just use this one book to study for the PTCB. I think it helps a lot with learning the drugs and finding out what you need to study. I have not taken the test yet but this book is one of my study resources. I am glad I purchased the book.

Bought it for my gf in preparation for the exam and she passed on her first attempt while finishing ahead of time.

I passed my exam first time and this product really a good book to have to read and to do further knowledge search. but definately something to read and to have.

Studying for exam & working in a pharmacy for on-the-job training, this book is great to have around!
