What's up with that except a trick designed to make a purchaser think it is"new" and "different" when it's not. I suspect other reviewers don't read these books because they don't catch these little nuances of cheating and deception caused by these lazy blatant repeats. But maybe it's just me and not the repeat shill reviewers that can read as many as 62 eBooks in a single day immediately after issue and "write" the same reviews word for word on EACH book over and over some 62 times. More difficult in times past before Control "C", Control "V" became a reality.

These little cookbooks put out by The Ultimate Guide are great! The fact that I have so many to refer to, or just get ideas for new favorites is awesome. I always look for them from Encore to get them free the first days they are released.

I've always considered myself creative. I'm a musician and a self proclaimed artist. I am always looking for ways to fuel creativity, and noticed that while lots of books for artists advise on ways to let your creative spirit "flow,"not much is written about HOW to be creative, in practical terms. I found myself thinking in new ways before I even finished the book. I highly recommend this book for anyone of any age.

I have read the book twice - one of those few that I've read twice for the past 10 years. I believe the 5 Thinking Tools or SIT work because (1) they are derived from TRIZ, (2) the examples described, and (3) I tried it myself. I was able to generate some creative ideas for product design and business almost effortlessly and in a short amount of time. The writing style used is clear and free flowing unlike Creativity in Product Innovation (Goldberg and Mazursky) which reads like an engineering textbook. Inside the Box seems to be a rewrite of Creativity in Product Innovation. Although SIT is very useful to generate creative ideas (and is much more effective than other creativity tools out there), I am not convinced that SIT covered enough of TRIZ principles and tools. The last chapter on resolving technical contradictions, for example, is better handled using TRIZ. I would still learn and use TRIZ for the bigger and more complex problems. Boyd and Goldberg did an excellent job in creating innovative thinking tools and communicating these to non-engineers who may not likely hear of, like, or use TRIZ.

No argument that the short stories add some flavor to the reading. But there is nothing new or creative here that differs from the SCAMPER process (Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify/distort, Put to other purposes, Eliminate, Rearrange/Reverse) that you can find through an Internet search. And you save the $28.00+ purchase price of the book.

Being a long time follower of Roni Horowitz and his ASIT (ADVANCED SYSTEMATIC INVENTIVE THINKING), and a consistent user of SIT methods in my consulting practice (both in creative aspects and the development of new services), I must say that this book have outstanding information to help readers to enhance their thinking process and defeat mental blockades.The Closed World Principle, and the Tools that are presented are very well explained with the use of real examples.The book is easy to read, but powerful in concepts. I like a lot the two approaches: the one that come for a business world, and the one that comes from "a lab rat", as Goldenberg refers to himself. Being a mix of both worlds, read the stories was delicious.If you want a fresh approach to creativity and innovation, please, read this book.

The authors have good points about innovation... it reminds me of McGyver! Interesting viewpoint on innovation and how to work with what you have. I am not totally sure if good innovation comes from this theory, but the book does present valid argument on the subject. One thing is this book goes against the popular creative thinking of "outside the box". My take on this is that successful innovation is all about timing more so than on the technological advance an idea would make. Some of that is discussed in the book. So it really boils down to is if one is lucky to pick the right time to introduce a right product. One of the best ever invention I came across is the Pet Rock! So far, nothing beats it!

This book well explains the power of inside-the-box thinking and the applications of Structured Inventive Thinking. I cover a similar subject in my newest book written more from the technical standpoint. I am an inventor with several patents and I have practice SIT and similar techniques for 15 years. This is by far the best book I have read so far, from all of the Native American books on Amazon. It is also the best of quality of the books I have received, even though it's soft bound. You will take a historical adventure with Black Elk at your side to the Little Big Horn and to Wounded Knee. This book was written from the transcripts of the original author who lived with Black Elk while writing it. The book was translated by Black Elk's son who was fluent in English and in the Sioux language. There are footnotes throughout by a reviewing author that tells of when the author strays from the original transcripts. I think they could have been left out or put at the end of the book. I would read the entire chapter, then go back and read the footnotes, as there are so many that they kind of get in the way. At times though, I must admit they help out. This is a real life Native American history as told by one who lived it. His vision, is probably one of the most important lessons in all of Native American history and belief systems. I truly think this is one of the best books that I have read so far, and intend to read it again. It makes me sorry to read of our military efforts to exterminate our Native Americans and our government treaties that were broken. We are truly blessed by our Native American spirituality, history and wisdom. I can only pray that we work together on this earth and honor our words in the future.

Having read Black Elk Speaks decades ago, and loving it, I wanted to upgrade to this “premier edition” with photos, art work, appendices etc. I was horribly disappointed to realize as I was reading along, that 33 pages are missing in the center of the book! Once you reach page 98, the text reverts back to page 67 and repeats the next 31 pages. When you reach page 98...again....it skips to page 131! Pages 99 through page 130 are missing. I am so disappointed. If you are planning on ordering this edition, ask the seller to verify that their copy does not share this defect. I don’t know if it was just my copy, or if the entire printing run was affected. It should have been caught by the seller before listing it, in my opinion.

Well written. Keeps your attention. Fascinating and true story written by a man who was getting a first hand account of an historic event that he actually lived through. Priceless history from the American Indian position.

There are few words I can say, so stricken, my heart, from this book. The voice of Black Elk is clear. His telling of his vision has inspired me in so many aspects of my own life- that a vision must be stepped into even ritualistically at first to gain power from the vision itself. How many ways can that be applied to my own life?? Deep love for him.

Hear it directly from the author who lived it and wrote it, Black Elk. The United States has a very poor history in terms of its relationships with Indian tribes and its willingness to honor agreements. It was a period of great greed for land and a saga of eliminating Indian tribes. Black Foot relates how the white settlers invaded the Lakota's land and literally stole it right out from under them. The white man killed off the buffalo herds for mainly sport, and deprived the Lakota's from their primary life line in terms of food, skins, etc. He speaks of how the White Man killed off his culture making the Indians more and more dependent upon what the White Man was willing to give the Indians. He also recounts the assassinations of Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull by the Reservation police.This is a book that should be on the reading list of every US high school's American History class. It is a rare insight into the broken treaties and the final betrayal, incarceration and placing on reservations of the proud, independent Sioux nation. It is the end of the frontier and the end of a way of life. Sadly, it is also a curtain raiser to the same kind of atrocities, little known, that US forces committed against Filipinos in the first years of the 1900's; and it leads to My Lai in Vietnam, and Abu Gharib in Iraq. It is another reminder that war and colonization is hell, and that commanders cannot be counted on to restrain their men, and that the casualties of conquest are more often civilians than soldiers.The real sadness of this book, however, is Black Elk's measured but ultimately tragic telling of the death of the Sioux way of life in the final decades of the 1800's, of the breaking of their spirit, and the perishing of their magical, nomadic culture at the hands of "Western progress."

About the Author

Brian W. Stolarz is a criminal defense attorney. He's worked for the prominent white-collar criminal defense boutique in New York, Morvillo, Abramowitz, Grand, Iason & Anello, and the international law firm, K&L Gates LLP, in Washington, D.C. Stolarz was also a Staff Attorney for the Criminal Defense Division of The Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, New York, where he served as counsel to hundreds of indigent defendants facing all types of criminal offenses.Stolarz has received several awards for his dedication to pro bono service, including the Pro Bono Legal Service Award from the John Carroll Society and the 2014 Caritas Award, the highest honor awarded by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington in recognition of work for the indigent and oppressed.Stolarz is a member of the Criminal Justice Act Felony Panel in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and the District of Maryland, a member of the Alumni Council of the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, and a member of the Board of Directors of Texas Defender Service.Currently a partner with LeClair Ryan in Alexandria, Virginia, Stolarz is the head of the Compliance, Investigations, and White Collar Practice Team. An epic, personal tale, dramatic in the way only true stories can be. As an attorney, I alternated between nodding my head in solemn agreement with the author's sound and persuasive arguments, and shaking my head in horror at the incompetent muck offered by the state of Texas. As a human being, I began with shuddering outrage at the injustice of Dewayne's story, but ended in tears at the unbreakable bond between two men who started as attorney and client, but ended as friends and spiritual brothers. As uplifting as Dewayne's ending is, the grueling struggle to get to that ending should infuriate you. Definitely, you should buy this book. Absolutely, you should read it. But even more than that, you should let it be an inspiration to you, a call to further action.

I could not put this book down!! The author does a fantastic job of telling his and Dewayne's story with accuracy and humanity. Sadly Dewayne's story is not as uncommon as we would like to think, and it is crucial that stories like Dewayne are told and heard and read. This book captures a reader's interest and heart and inspires him or her to think of ways to help others like Dewayne (reminiscent of Bryan Stevenson's Just Mercy). It gives us a glimpse of the dark underside of our criminal justice system and confronts uncomfortable topics like race, poverty, prosecutorial misconduct and capital punishment without lecturing and also manages to leaves the reader inspired to do more. There is a message of hope and optimism and faith despite the tragic miscarriage of justice that provides the basis for the book.

The story of DeWayne Brown's experience with the US justice system, as beautifully detailed in the book, is disappointing. Unfortunately it's not at all surprising. Thankfully, a group of dedicated professionals, led by the compassionate author, sought to right a wrong that should never have happened in the first place. The recounting of the crime, trial and subsequent release of Mr. Brown is eloquent, and intertwined with other relevant educational cases. The author is not afraid to show his own vulnerability and tell this powerful story from a truly human perspective. The most important lesson I learned is the power of tenacity and grace. DeWayne Brown and Brian Stolarz both embody those principles in their every day life.

Brian Stolarz isn't just everything you'd want your lawyer to be (brilliant, dedicated, ferociously hard working, a good listener, a good counselor, and a friendly person with a sense of humor), he's everything you'd want your storyteller to be (witty, perceptive, insightful, reflective, and funny). This is a must-read for everyone who's ever thought about life "on the other side". On the other side of the tracks, on the other side of the fence, on the other side of the glass partition, basically on the other side of where most of us live every day. Brian tells a gripping story about confronting insurmountable odds and overcoming them through perseverence, dedication, prayer and - most of all - friendship. Buy this book. Give this book as a gift to someone you love. You won't regret it.

As a trial attorney, a long-time supporter of the death penalty, and a Republican, this book has changed me forever. It is extremely well written and, hopefully, may serve to change the opinions of many prosecutors and some in the judiciary. I was horrified to read what Justice Scalia had written about an innocent man, condemned to death for a crime he never committed , a man he knew was innocent and yet, allowed to be executed. Justice Scalia wrote many great opinions during his time on SCOTUS , but that one was not one of them! Shame on you, Justice Scalia, shame! Read this book, it will change your mind.

Excellent book! Brian and all the attorneys involved deserve praise for freeing an innocent man.

I would recommend this book to anyone. Everyone should be aware of the embarassment of the justice system, particularly in Texas, especially as it pertains to the death penalty. This book made me angry, frustrated, and in the end it made me cry tears of relief. If only everyone had someone to fight for them the way Brian fought for Dewayne.

When I read the address of the apartments where Dewayne lived, I had to read this story. From 1959 to 1969 I had lived only a few blocks from his home! I came to care about him as the author had. I had no real opinion about the death penalty but now I see clearly why it must be abolished. Oh, the corruption in the system I had always believed in!

My 12 year old daughter wants to be a fashion designer. I bought her this book to add to her fashion library. I wanted her to know many of these designers. There are some standards such as Chanel but some more modern designers as well. She loved it and reads it all the time. I'm very happy with the book and recommend it to anyone who likes to look at fashion and wants to learn a little bit about the different designers.

I adore Dita & when I found out about this book is bought one. It is simply gorgeous! Alot larger than I was expecting and a very interesting read, even though I've only finished 2 chapters so far. I love all the little details that she's sharing with this book...so interesting. Thanks to the seller for an amazing buy for a girl on a budget!! Love it!!!

I stalked my mailman intensely today. I checked the mail 12 times, but of course it came while picking kids up from school. Upon opening the heavy box, I gasped to discover how HUGE the book was. I hugged it. Hi Dita, welcome to my home. Come see my bedroom, let's be best friends. I left my children to their own devices (cartoons and cereal out of the box) whilst Dita and I shared a moment in my bedroom. While I wanted to skip ahead to chapters 7 (Kiss and Makeup) and 13 (Lipstick Traces), I was drawn in by the beautiful photos and bios of lovely people who have also found their own path to beauty. And so I have read it through, cover to cover. I'll probably read it again tomorrow. It was so much more than I had hoped. I'm getting to read about my beloved Dita and, as a bonus, getting to discover more about new lovely people. I have always been more in the world of black and white and have collected vintage hats since I discovered them at 12. While I lack the courage to peer at life through a spotted veil, I dream of hot rolled hair and sheer hosiery. With 5 small sons I can muster my MAC Diva Glam each day and some hair serum to slick back those flyaways. With Dita's encouragement to be free to be me I may yet embrace some falsies (eyelashes) and some opera gloves in the carpool line. Love you Dita!!! I'll see you again tomorrow!

I was blown away by this book. For $24 it was a bargain. It was huge, the pages were glossy, the pictures were gorgeous and she covered practically everything. There was even a chapter on eyebrows! I love Dita because she's a sexy glamour powerhouse that started as an ordinary mid-western girl with big dreams. I admire the fact that she's very much in control of her career and image. She even does her own hair and make up most of the time. Despite all this, she remains humble and down to earth. All of this shows in the pages of this book. I very much agree with her take on beauty being created. I'm a lingerie consultant like Dita used to be and I can't tell you how many women I've fitted in that dressing room that have apologized to me for some perceived body flaw of theres. Small chested women want to be bigger and bustier women want to be smaller.We are all different! Many of the insecurities women have are due to society pressuring them to look a certain way, not just for the eyes and pleasure of men but to compete with other women. It's a sad state of affairs. Whatever you want to change and however you want to look should first and foremost be for you. Dita talks about this in her chapter on cosmetic surgery which I find very empowering for women. We are constantly bombarded with images of female celebrities looking seemingly perfect and being glorified and worshiped like goddesses for doing so with headlines that have some of version of "You need to look like this and here's how". Dita makes it clear that you don't need to look like her. She tells you her secrets and routines but your hair is not hers, your skin is not hers, your body is not hers but you can certainly find what works for your hair, skin and body.

I'd known who Dita was before I bought this book, but hadn't really taken a serious interest in her or her burlesque work. I was looking for some inspiration for making myself over and never realized in a million years that this would be the thing. I feel like I don't even look at myself in the same way, and I love how much this book has helped me find my eccentric beauty and bring it out. Case in point, I have a beauty mark of my own by my lips, but always hid it because I found it a nuisance. It took Dita, who boldly had a beauty mark tattooed on her face, to make me realize something that I had taken for granted could be transformed into fashion. I intend to keep this book as a part of my permanent library and can't recommend it enough.

I've never seen a professional burlesque show, but Ms. Von Teese certainly makes me want to! I'm her complete opposite: blond, socially conservative, and work in a career that requires suppression of sexuality and most femininity (out of consideration for my patients' feelings). This excellent and well-planned book has more useful information than I expected when I added it to my "style shelf". While her focus is vintage glamour (obviously), she also includes interviews with current "beauty-eccentrics", descriptions of her own image-crafting techniques, encouraging anecdotes, and fun historical facts about beauty. The book is quite heavy with beautiful photographs; you won't mind that most of them are of Ms. Von Teese because they are exceptionally beautiful. I'll never be able to indulge my Hollywood Glamour fantasies routinely, but this book shows a glittering world of femininity presented by a woman who is "feet on the ground"--even when they are perched in a giant martini glass.

This is an amazing book! You get a fabulous history of beauty, step by step instructions on makeup, recommendations on products she finds helpful, and even stretches! I forgot the exercise part in here. She hold nothing back, ladies, and does it with such style and grace. She even shows how to re-use antique compacts and lipstick tubes, which I am doing now. She also really inspired me to wear sunscreen every minute of every day. I enjoyed the interviews with her dermatologist and other people and performers she has friended along the way. The book itself is glamorous. It is oversized, has wonderful glossy pages, and beautiful photography. I know I am forgetting half of what I wanted to say about this book. She advocates glamour, every minute, every day, and shows how easy it really is to be glamorous in your own special way. Keep up the fabulous work, Dita! Order this book. You will not be disappointed.
