First of all, the book is extremely detailed and well-written. The author gives a great deal of time to providing the background for ideas and implementations. You don't go into the examples completely unprepared.On the downside, too many of the examples use gigantic chained expressions that are nearly impossible to follow. This is an academic publication, so code brevity is not a plus. Additionally, many, many typos in the examples will waste huge amounts of your time trying to get them working. Several of the examples will never work because they are incomplete. For these reasons, I could only give the book 3 stars.For Kindle readers: Because of the formatting of the examples, they are extremely difficult to read on a Kindle (or iPad, or Browser). Also, there is not enough of a difference in fonts to separate text from commands from examples, and the justified alignment splits up the example into nearly unreadable chunks. Be prepared to spend a lot of time rereading the examples.
