As a CS recently interested in NLP this book is an excellent read that allow to have a lot of important linguistic details that come into practice. I find it a particular lightweight read ble to go through it quickly in two weeks. I was a bit disappointed that the later chapter focus heavily on english in contrast to the beginning which included German, French, Spanish, Japanese and african languages, but still the book made each example relevant and useful. On the other hand consider this book as a shallow guide to linguistic it won't go in deep details into any subject instead it can point you to the right direction and help NLP practitioner to understand linguistical features from another point of view.

Linguistic literature can be overwhelming for a non-linguist (and even for a linguist!), so this is an excellent starting point. The book consists of short chapters which explain the most important linguistic concepts and illustrate them with examples.

This is an easy to read, yet comprehensive work.

I do not like the Lonely Planet guides in e-book/Kindle format. They are extremely frustrating to use. First of all, in the case of Singapre, there is no good, detailed map of the city. All we get is a schematic of the neighborhoods at the very beginning. To see detail, I have to click on each neighborhood separately. That click brings up a neighborhood map annotated with numbers that correspond to top sights to visit. I looked for the descriptions attached to the numbers and couldn't find them. Why? Because the numbers were flush with the descriptions, for example, "1Singapore National Gallery. No period after the number; no space. When I zoomed in on the map to read details, the map blurred because it has no resolution for close-up viewing. Occasionally I would stumble across a suggested neighborhood walk map but would be unable to find it again if I left the page. I bought the Kindle version for my iPad so I wouldn't have to lug a book along, but this e-version had me almost in tears trying to use it.

Lonely Planet produce some of the best travel guides and this is no exception. Have used this one and previous editions over the years both as a visitor and while living there and discovered that there is much much more to Singapore than just being a stopover or shopping destination. Singapore is an incredible city-state and this Lonely Planet guide can help you explore it and experience its full richness and diversity.

This book was the perfect guide for a recent 10-day stay in Singapore. It packs a lot of useful, concise info into a small book and includes some small, non-touristy attractions. The organization of the book wasn't always intuitive to me and some of the logistical info wasn't always clear - minor issue, though. A few of the items listed - in particular some of the small shops - were no longer there when we visited in Oct 2016. Overall, it's an excellent book and great asset if you're new to Singapore.

I first read this book on our first trip to Singapore (not the kindle version) and it was a great help in finding things to do which a 'tourist' on their own would probably miss. Well worth using as a tool for finding your way around if you don't have a personal guide.

I think Lonely Planet series books are the best way to prepare for a trip to a country or city. I've gotten used to the format and can find exactly what I want. Unfortunately, if you take a book for each country you will visit, you'll be carrying a ton of books. Best to study the books before your trip, make notes, and leave the book in your library rather than take it with you. A lot of backpackers photograph the important pages of the book and simply carry the information in their smart phones. Smart!

There are beautiful color photos of the bikes and black and white photos of clubs, dealerships, rallies, advertisements, families, etc. You experience the changes and directions the company took from the perspective of Willie G. Davidson. A very interesting read with gorgeous photos for Harley lovers.

Love this book. I've read it from cover to cover twice already. You never get tired of reading Harley history and seeing all the great pictures inside.

It's amazing to learn the true story of H-D from those who actually made it

I can't say a bad thing about this Harley book. It is chock full of great photos and packed with tons of history info regarding Harley Davidson. This should be on the shelf of every Harley owner. It's the first history book that hasn't put me to sleep.

I searched for several days for this book for my boyfriend for Xmas. And it wasn't cheap. The book itself is awesome! I recommend it for any H-D enthusiast. However the carton it was shipped in was not in the best of shape, for starters. It was packaged this way...just kinda thrown in a box. I was surprised it didn't get damaged. That is until i opened the film covering the book...there is a sticky spot on the cover about the size of my fist and i really see no way of getting it off without damaging the book. I would love to have it replaced but since they are getting harder to come by, i really don't see that happening.

Lots of history of Harley Davidson.

I love this book, it's the best out there, and written from the perspective of someone who was there, and at this point, even the grandson is pushing up there in years. Glad to buy it, loved reading it. Feel like I got a better feel for the brand, the myth and the men behind the machine.

Dad is a collector of Harley memorabilia. This was an awesome book. Great pictures.

Skip this edition. It’s cheaply made and doesn’t contain the copy of the original manuscript. I suppose it’d be fine for burning if you take the secondary comment (which is all this edition includes) literary. The Book of the Law is a slim volume to say the least and is public domain. Much better ways to get this info.

This book does not contain the facsimilie copies of the manuscript as advertised. Buyer beware.

Another one of these just printed up "books." Information was good, though. I will try to avoid these self published things as much as I can in the future.

An interesting read which will require more research on my part. The book itself is short, yet brilliant. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in Occultism or Paganism if for nothing else, this book really began the revival of both.

It's a little cheaply made but I don't mean that as a complaint, it matches the price paid for it and serves the purpose needed, it arrived perfectly undamaged and on time. I would remake the purchase if I had to

As a law professor teaching legal research and writing to first-year students, I have found that this book works wonders for my students drafting their first-ever office memos. The process can be daunting, but this book provides sound advice in clear language with an easy-to-follow format and a reassuring tone. It's truly a handy tool. I find myself returning to it, and loaning it out to students, again and again. The book's overview of The Bluebook's rules particularly helpful, too. It doesn't overwhelm students with too many details. Instead, it's a concise guide that tells them enough to orient them but not enough to intimidate them. Overall, I highly recommend this book to any law student, new lawyer, or teacher of legal writing. It's a staple that you'll be glad to have on your bookshelf and, if you're like me, it will quickly become dog-eared from frequent use.

I received a lot of criticism about my legal writing. Specifically, the attorneys at my firm thought I wrote long and convoluted sentences. My ideas and analysis got lost in the weeds. I found chapter 2, "How to write clear sentences," enormously helpful. The book made me aware of common mistakes I often make and gave me the tools to avoid them. My writing is far better as a result. I did not find the rest of the book as helpful, but I purchased it for a very specific reason.

This book is clearly written, and offers particularly useful and practical advice for anyone in interested in potentially becoming a lawyer

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I fail to see what the other reviewers found in this book. I feel that the author might have been aiming for something along the lines of the Elements of Style, but fell drastically short. You will find little help here if you have taken a research and writing class within the last three years. Pages five through 18 are spent explaining the difference between the executive and legislative branches. I am not sure who this book is aimed at, but it is far too basic for someone looking to add serious shine to their writing. There are too many other good books on the subject for me to recommend this title to anyone. Look elsewhere.

This book was okay and it was required for a class it may or may not help in the real world setting depends if the organizations has a set format they want to use.

It is without a doubt a far more relevant and purposeful guide to writing a memo than one of those stale books you likely bought in law school as part of your legal writing class. I am a practicing attorney and the majority of my high stress assignments are simply to write a memo on a particular issue, and this is the book I turn to with confidence. Sadly I did not use this book in law school, but I do wish I had. If you know someone who is in the legal profession or about to enter - do them a favor and buy them this short, concise guide to memo writing. I believe some of the top-tier schools have started to use this book and that makes sense to me. It is the new standard for legal writing guides as far as I am concerned.

This book is an exceptional, no-nonsense guide to writing a legal memorandum that should be required reading for law students. As an attorney in a large DC law firm, I see a lot of written work from summer associates from Harvard, Yale, Stanford, and Chicago. Every single one of those summer associates would have benefited from reading this book and taking to heart the author's tips about organization and style. I recommend it without reservation.
